Epic Games and Unity have announced a groundbreaking partnership that will enable developers to publish Unity-built games directly inside Fortnite starting next year. This move marks a major step in Fortnite’s evolution from a battle royale game to a broad metaverse platform, giving Unity developers new reach and monetization opportunities within Fortnite’s creator economy and discovery system.

Unity Games Coming to Fortnite

For the first time, Unity-based games will join the rich library of user-generated content in Fortnite, sitting alongside experiences built with Epic’s own Unreal Engine. The integration was confirmed live at Unity’s Unite 2025 conference, with Epic CEO Tim Sweeney highlighting the network technology making it possible and stressing that Unity titles will be accessible natively inside Fortnite—no extra software needed, maintaining seamless party and voice chat features.

The partnership means Unity developers can tap into Fortnite’s 110 million monthly active users and more than 500 million registered accounts worldwide. Unity games will be included in Fortnite’s discovery system, allowing easier visibility and access to console, PC, and mobile audiences. Developers will also benefit from Fortnite’s lucrative Creator Economy, which distributes hundreds of millions in payouts every year.

Expanding Developer Tools and Commerce Options

In addition to game integration, Unity’s cross-platform commerce platform will soon support Unreal Engine. This enables both Unity and Unreal developers to manage digital catalogs, payment providers, and live operations with more flexibility across all major platforms.

Epic’s collaboration with Unity underscores its goal to be the most open metaverse platform in gaming and put direct pressure on competitors like Roblox and Minecraft. The announcement also signals a commitment to fair, interoperable systems, helping developers deliver and monetize content everywhere from mobile app stores to standalone games and inside Fortnite itself.
