Steam is currently rolling out a redesigned storefront menu as part of its latest beta update, aiming to make it easier for users to find games suited to their tastes. The redesign streamlines the storefront by consolidating the previously cluttered menu and numerous text links into a clean, organized top navigation bar.
According to a Steam blog post, the new layout focuses on “providing easier access to the places Steam users most frequently visit.” The revamped browse section offers quick navigation to top sellers, new releases, and discounted games. Adjacent to this, a recommendations button uses library data, playtimes, and community picks to suggest titles tailored to individual users. The categories button highlights a user’s preferred genres and suggests related tags to help discover similar games.

Improvements also extend to the search function, which now displays popular searches, recently viewed titles, and key genres upfront. An advanced search option is available for users seeking detailed filters and tags. While none of these features are new, their consolidated presentation enhances usability, making it more intuitive to navigate the store.
This redesign effort is part of the Steam Client Beta, where users can explore the updated interface and provide feedback to influence the final product. However, this update comes amid controversy following Steam’s recent removal of adult and NSFW titles, a move aimed at complying with payment processors but criticized for potential censorship.
Those interested in testing the new storefront design must join the Steam Client Beta. Steam’s goal is to create a smoother, more personalized shopping experience in response to user feedback and internal observations about navigation challenges on the current platform.
