Apple is preparing to release iOS 27, a major software update focusing on quality improvements and advanced AI features, reminiscent of the 2009 Snow Leopard update which emphasized stability and performance over new features. Unlike last year’s design-heavy iOS 26, iOS 27 aims to fix ongoing user issues such as overheating, battery drain, and app crashes by cleaning up system components, removing outdated code, and boosting overall performance.

Though primarily focused on core improvements, iOS 27 will also introduce subtle interface tweaks, including customizable lock screen clock styling. The update is set to bring several new AI-driven capabilities, including a rebuilt version of Siri with a more lifelike visual personality, AI enhancements to Apple Intelligence features across apps, and a health-focused AI agent tied to Apple’s upcoming Health+ subscription. Internally, Apple is testing a text-based chatbot app called Veritas aligned with the new Siri architecture.

iOS 27’s AI developments involve partnerships with Google to incorporate Gemini AI technologies, aiming to strengthen Apple’s AI offerings, including a web search tool competing with ChatGPT and Perplexity. This update, expected to debut at WWDC 2026, sets the stage for future devices like foldable iPhones, emphasizing refined software experience, greater stability, and powerful AI integration across Apple’s ecosystem.
