Google Pixel Watch 4 Official Renders Show New Colors, Bands & Faster Charging

Google has unveiled exclusive official renders and new details for its upcoming Pixel Watch 4, available in both 41mm and 45mm sizes. The design continues with Google’s proprietary lug system for quick band changes, but this year brings an expanded palette of case and band colors, new materials for enhanced comfort, and a major overhaul to the charging system.

New Colors and Bands

The Pixel Watch 4 will be offered in four classic case colors: Black, Silver, Gold, and Moonstone, providing options that suit various styles. Alongside these, Google is launching multiple new band colors and types to complement the watch:

  • Active Bands: Featuring a new material engineered for superior comfort, available in Obsidian, Porcelain, and Moonstone tones.
  • Sport Bands: Offered in a vibrant array of colors including Indigo, Limoncello, and Iris, appealing to users seeking energetic and customizable styles.
  • Stretch Bands: Continuing as an option exclusively for the smaller 41mm model, catering to those who prefer elasticized bands for convenience.

This broad spectrum of colors and band options reflects Google’s aim to make the Pixel Watch 4 a versatile fashion accessory in addition to a tech device.

Faster and More Convenient Charging

A standout innovation for Pixel Watch 4 is its new side-mounted charging system, which shifts the charging contacts from the watch’s back to a recessed area on the side. This change enables:

  • 25% Faster Charging: Users can power up their watches more quickly, reducing downtime.
  • Improved Repairability: The side placement likely allows easier access for technicians, making repairs more feasible compared to previous sealed designs.
  • Practical Charging Position: Charging on its side lets users easily glance at battery levels when the watch rests on a desk or nightstand.

However, this new system means that older Pixel Watch chargers are incompatible with the Pixel Watch 4, necessitating use of the new charger included in the box or purchased separately.

Software and Battery Enhancements

The Pixel Watch 4 will launch with Wear OS 6, marking it as one of the first smartwatches to feature Google’s latest smartwatch operating system. It will introduce the Material 3 Expressive design language, aiming for more intuitive use and a refreshed visual style.

Google also promises larger batteries and longer battery life, ensuring the device meets user expectations for all-day use, coupled with the faster charging benefits.

Launch Timeline

Google has scheduled the Pixel Watch 4 announcement for August 20, 2025, at its Made by Google event. Pre-orders will open shortly after, with shipping expected around August 28.

With new case and band colors, a revamped charging system that boosts speed and repair options, and the latest Wear OS experience, the Google Pixel Watch 4 looks to address previous user feedback and elevate the Pixel Watch lineup. This release reinforces Google’s growing commitment to wearable technology, blending style, performance, and practicality in its next-generation smartwatch.
