Huawei Mate 80 RS to Debut in October with Dual-Layer OLED Display and Titanium Frame

Huawei’s upcoming Mate 80 RS is set to feature a premium 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display, which stacks two light-emitting layers to deliver higher brightness, lower power consumption, and longer screen life compared to traditional single-layer OLED screens. This advanced display technology first appeared on last year’s Mate 70 RS, highlighting Huawei’s ongoing commitment to cutting-edge screen innovations. However, dual-layer OLED is costly to manufacture, and even Apple is reportedly exploring it for future devices.

The Mate 80 RS prototype is said to have a durable titanium alloy middle frame, continuing the RS series’ tradition of combining strength with a luxury feel. The back panel will feature a ceramic-like textured glass finish, designed to feel smooth and jade-like, yet be lighter than true ceramic.

Camera-wise, the Mate 80 RS may share the same setup as the Mate 80 Pro models, including a 50MP main sensor roughly 1/1.28 inches in size, comparable to the sensor on Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro. Though smaller than the massive 1-inch sensor in Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra, this sensor is built on an efficient 22nm process with 1.2μm pixel size for strong imaging.

Internally, the Mate 80 RS is rumored to be powered by the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Ultra chipset, paired with up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, aiming at flagship-level speed and multitasking. Additional specs include a 5000mAh battery with fast and wireless charging and HarmonyOS as the operating system.

The Huawei Mate 80 RS is expected to launch around October 2025, emphasizing premium materials, innovative display tech, and powerful performance in a flagship package.
