Apple’s iPhone 17 series is expected to be officially announced during the week of September 8, 2025, with Tuesday, September 9 or Wednesday, September 10 emerging as the most likely dates for the launch event. Preorders for the lineup—which includes the base iPhone 17, the new slimmer iPhone 17 Air replacing the Plus model, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max—are expected to start on the Friday immediately following the event, likely September 12. Retail availability and shipping should begin about a week later, on Friday, September 19.

This timeline follows Apple’s reliable pattern of early-September iPhone launches seen since 2016 (except for some shifts in 2020 due to the pandemic). All main iPhone 17 models are expected to launch simultaneously in September, while a budget-focused iPhone 17e is anticipated to arrive separately, probably in spring 2026.

Anticipated iPhone 17 upgrades include larger displays (6.3 inches for the standard model), 120 Hz ProMotion screens for all models, an ultra-thin Air variant, substantial camera improvements such as triple 48MP rear sensors on Pro models and a 24MP front camera across the lineup, and the first Apple in-house 5G modem in the Air model. More RAM (up to 12GB on Pro and Air), faster charging capabilities, Wi-Fi 7 support, and a redesigned chassis for Pro models are also expected.

Alongside the iPhone launch, Apple is likely to release iOS 26 featuring a new “Liquid Glass” interface design for supported devices (iPhone 11 or newer)[User conversation].
