Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup reveals notable screen size changes through leaked screen protectors, highlighting differences across the series including the new iPhone 17 Air. The base iPhone 17 is expected to feature a slightly larger 6.3-inch display, matching the size of the iPhone 17 Pro, up from the previous 6.1 inches. The iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the Plus model, is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display, slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch Plus it replaces but featuring a much thinner design with slim bezels. The Pro Max model will retain the same 6.9-inch screen size as its predecessor.

Notably, the iPhone 17 Air is anticipated as the thinnest iPhone to date and will come with upgraded internal specs, including the powerful A19 Pro chipset — the same as the Pro and Pro Max — and reportedly more RAM than the base iPhone 17. Although it may only have a single camera, the Air model is expected to be a highlight of the 2025 lineup, positioned as a mid-tier device replacing the Plus.

In addition to size changes, both the base iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air are expected to feature 120Hz refresh rate displays, though likely without the ProMotion LTPO technology used in higher-end models, which means no always-on display support. The Pro and Pro Max models keep their 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, respectively, with rumored design shifts such as aluminum frames replacing titanium and a new camera bump style.

This lineup adjustment marks the end of the Plus model in favor of the thinner Air version, reshaping Apple’s iPhone choices for 2025. The overall design changes are moderate, with more significant innovations possibly reserved for Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027.

Apple is expected to officially launch the iPhone 17 series next month.
