Qualcomm has officially introduced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, the latest addition to its 7-series processor family. Positioned between mid-range and upper mid-range flagships, the new chipset offers incremental upgrades in both CPU and GPU performance, alongside new gaming and AI features. While Qualcomm has not yet revealed which device will debut the chip, it is now officially confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will be among the first smartphones to feature it.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 4: CPU and GPU Boost

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 retains the 1+3+4 Kryo CPU architecture built on a 4nm process. The key improvement comes in the Prime Cortex-A720 core, which is now clocked at 2.7GHz (up from 2.5GHz on the Gen 3). The remaining cores are unchanged, with three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz.

According to Qualcomm, this translates to around a 7% increase in CPU performance. The upgraded Adreno GPU also delivers a 7% graphics uplift, improving gaming fluidity and rendering.

Gamers will also benefit from features such as:

  • Snapdragon Game Super Resolution – for enhanced visual clarity.
  • Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 – to balance power efficiency and sustained performance during longer gaming sessions.

Display, Camera, and AI Enhancements

The new chipset expands its display support to panels with resolutions up to 2,900 x 1,300 pixels and 144Hz refresh rates, making it well-suited for high-refresh gaming smartphones and handheld consoles.

On the camera side, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 supports up to 200MP image sensors, along with 4K HDR video recording at 30fps, compatible with HDR10 and HDR10+ standards.

AI capabilities also receive a notable upgrade with the updated Hexagon NPU, which supports popular lightweight AI models such as Llama 1B and Qwen 1B, enabling real-time translation, smarter voice assistance, and enhanced camera optimizations.

Connectivity and Memory

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 comes equipped with:

  • 5G Sub-6GHz connectivity (no mmWave).
  • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless audio.
  • LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage support.

Redmi Note 15 Pro+ First to Launch with New Chip

Redmi has confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+, launching on August 21 in China, will debut with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. The device will also feature a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, a 7,000mAh battery with 90W charging, and an upgraded triple-camera system with a 50MP Light Fusion 800 OIS sensor and 2.5x telephoto lens.

While the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 may appear to be an evolutionary rather than revolutionary upgrade, it strengthens Qualcomm’s presence in the premium mid-range chipset category. With balanced improvements in CPU, GPU, AI, and gaming optimization, paired with expanded display and camera support, the new chip is set to power capable smartphones like the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, solidifying Qualcomm’s grip in the competitive mid-tier market.
