Qualcomm Technologies has launched its inaugural ‘Snapdragon for India – XR Day’, a flagship event in New Delhi aimed at accelerating India’s ecosystem for spatial computing and immersive technology. With the country positioned as a fast-growing hub for tech innovation, the event marked a major push to bring Extended Reality (XR)—including AR, VR, and MR—to Indian consumers, developers, and industry partners.
Showcasing India’s XR Innovation
XR Day assembled leading technologists, developers, OEMs, and creators for hands-on demos spanning entertainment, fitness, content capture, and education. These experiences leveraged the latest Snapdragon platforms, underlining Qualcomm’s intention to make smart glasses and immersive wearables as vital to daily life as smartphones.
Alex Katouzian, Group GM of Mobile, Compute & XR at Qualcomm, noted that Snapdragon XR platforms now power over 100 immersive devices worldwide, excelling across mixed reality, virtual reality, and augmented reality. Crucially, Qualcomm highlighted that AI is at the heart of XR’s next wave of growth, enabling devices to “see” and “hear” users, unlocking highly personalized and intuitive experiences. The live demo of a language model running natively on AI smart glasses underscored Snapdragon’s ability to deliver cloud, local, and fully on-device AI features.
Lenskart Partnership and Smart Eyewear Momentum
A headline announcement was Qualcomm’s collaboration with leading eyewear brand Lenskart, signaling the arrival of AI-powered smart glasses running on Snapdragon chipsets designed for Indian consumers. This strategic partnership demonstrates Snapdragon’s expansion beyond phones into new device categories, with a vision of smart glasses becoming essential, lightweight tools for daily productivity and connectivity.

Industry Vision and Broader Impact
Savi Soin, Senior VP & President, Qualcomm India, reinforced the company’s commitment: “Qualcomm Technologies envisions a future where smart glasses become as integral to daily life as smartphones, seamlessly handling everyday tasks.” He highlighted XR’s transformative promise for education in remote areas, frontline worker empowerment, and truly inclusive digital access—aligning with India’s broader “Viksit Bharat” vision for a developed, digitally inclusive nation.
What’s Next?
With Snapdragon commanding 90% of the global XR chipset market and India’s 5G rollout fueling innovation, Qualcomm is doubling down on India as a “foundational platform” for the future of spatial computing. The XR event now paves the way for the upcoming Snapdragon Auto Day with AWS on July 30, which will spotlight in-car connectivity and automotive tech tailored for India’s mobility sector.
The momentum from XR Day signals a new era for immersive technology in India—one where AI, local partnerships, and Snapdragon’s global ecosystem converge to make spatial computing accessible and transformative for millions.
