Samsung is reportedly set to unveil its much-anticipated first tri-fold smartphone at an event scheduled for September 29, 2025, in South Korea. The information, shared by well-known tipster Ice Universe and reported widely, also indicates that the launch event will feature the company’s Project Moohan XR headset alongside new AI smart glasses.

Unlike traditional foldable phones, Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone features a unique dual-hinged design, allowing it to unfold into a tablet-like format. Early leaks suggest the device will sport a 6.5-inch cover display and extend into a larger 10-inch foldable screen internally. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it will offer flagship-level performance, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging capabilities.

The tri-fold device is expected to carry a hefty price tag of around $3,000 USD (approximately 4 million KRW) due to its complex design and components. This price places it among the most expensive phones in Samsung’s lineup. Initially, availability will be extremely limited, with sales reportedly focused solely on South Korea and China markets, and only about 50,000 units planned for the first batch.

Alongside the tri-fold phone, Samsung’s Project Moohan headset, believed to run on the Android XR platform developed in partnership with Google and Qualcomm, is rumored to go on sale on October 13, mostly targeting VR and AR markets. The AI smart glasses, codenamed “Project Haean,” are also expected to debut soon, signaling Samsung’s ambitions to expand in wearable AR technology.

Samsung has yet to confirm these details officially, but the September 29 event is positioned as a showcase for the company’s latest innovations in foldable and extended reality devices. Given Huawei’s earlier entry into tri-fold foldables with the Mate XT, Samsung’s launch will mark a major step in evolving foldable smartphone technology with a focus on design and user experience.

Consumers outside South Korea and China may have to wait longer for wider availability, potentially into 2026, as Samsung gauges market response to this pioneering yet niche product format.
