Samsung Display’s President Lee Cheong recently revealed that Samsung will start mass-producing foldable OLED displays for a “North American client.” Although he didn’t name the company, many believe this is Apple, as these displays are expected for the rumored foldable iPhone launching in 2026.
The new foldable displays will have 8.6th generation technology, which means they will have less visible creases and better screen clarity. This is great news for Apple fans expecting a sleek, high-quality foldable device. The foldable iPhone may launch alongside the iPhone 18 series and feature an inward-folding crease-free screen, Touch ID, Apple’s A20 Pro chip, and dual rear cameras.
Apple has worked with Samsung for many years for its OLED displays, so it makes sense Samsung is supplying these new foldable panels. More details about the foldable iPhone should come out soon as the launch date approaches in 2026.
