Google Photos on Android Finally Rolls Out Sticker Creation Feature

Google Photos for Android has caught up to its iOS counterpart with a long-awaited sticker creation tool, arriving in the latest app update. First introduced on iOS back in August 2025, this feature lets users effortlessly transform people, pets, or objects from their photos into customizable stickers—perfect for spicing up chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, or other apps.

No extra tools required: Just open Google Photos (version 7.64 or later), select a photo, and long-press the subject to generate a sticker. Options include copying it to your clipboard or sharing it directly. Google advises using images with a clear foreground subject for the best results, ensuring sharp, reusable stickers.

The rollout is widespread on most Android devices packing at least 4GB of RAM, making it accessible for a broad range of users. This comes amid changes in Google’s ecosystem, like the recent wind-down of some Generative AI features in Pixel Studio.

One caveat: The sticker “Collection” hub—already live on iOS since January—is still pending for Android. It will let users browse, find, and reuse past stickers without recreating them each time. Expect it in a future update.

This addition boosts Google Photos’ appeal for casual creators and social media fans, bridging the gap with iOS while keeping conversations lively. Download the update from the Google Play Store to try it now.
