Samsung has started rolling out the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update to the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in Europe, marking the final major Android OS upgrade promised for the 2022 flagship series. The update, weighing around 3.17GB, introduces various Android 16 features along with Samsung’s One UI 8 enhancements such as the new Now Brief feature, a redesigned Samsung Internet browser, Quick Share improvements, and updates to the lock screen, split screen, Secure Folder, and DeX mode.
However, Samsung has temporarily halted the rollout due to a possible firmware issue affecting all three Galaxy S22 models. The company is reportedly preparing a hotfix while users who have already updated can continue using the software, although it’s recommended to watch for any unusual behavior.
This update marks the end of the OS upgrade cycle for the Galaxy S22 series as Samsung does not plan to offer Android 17 or One UI 9 for these devices. Nonetheless, Samsung will continue providing security patches for at least another year.
This final One UI 8.0 update aims to deliver a cleaner, more modern user interface along with useful multitasking, personalization, and security enhancements, keeping the Galaxy S22 series relevant and smooth in daily use.
