Google is reportedly preparing to expand Gemini’s Deep Research capabilities, allowing it to pull insights from personal data sources like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat.
According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, the upcoming feature would let users specify where Gemini should look for information — including emails and stored documents — to generate richer, context-aware answers.
This means users could soon ask Gemini to analyze internal discussions, shared files, or project notes directly from their Google ecosystem, making it a powerful research tool for professionals and teams.

Currently, the feature doesn’t appear to be fully functional, as Android Authority was unable to generate reports using Gmail or Drive data. This suggests the feature is still in testing and not yet ready for public release.
The update marks a deeper integration of Gemini with Google’s core apps. Previously, Gemini assisted users in Gmail by summarizing emails and managing schedules, and in Drive by analyzing video files. This next step flips the script — now Google’s own services are being integrated into Gemini for smarter, personalized responses.
While there’s no official rollout date yet, the addition could make Gemini far more useful for users embedded in Google’s productivity ecosystem.
