HONOR is taking smartphone innovation to a whole new level. The company’s CEO, Li Jian, has officially confirmed that its futuristic “robot phone” concept will become a real product in 2026.

First showcased last month, the phone grabbed attention for its unique design — featuring a pop-out, gimbal-style camera that can move and track subjects intelligently. Speaking at the World Internet Conference, Li Jian revealed that the upcoming device will combine AI, personal intelligence, and advanced camera capabilities to redefine how users interact with their phones.

While pop-up cameras aren’t new, HONOR’s concept takes it a step further. The camera module, inspired by DJI’s Osmo Pocket gimbal system, is designed to move dynamically, potentially enabling smart tracking and stabilization without the need for external accessories.

The CEO also emphasized that the robot phone will feature deep AI integration, allowing it to understand user behavior, assist in real time, and deliver a personalized experience.

Still, questions remain about how close the final product will stay to the concept. The pop-out design, while futuristic, raises concerns about durability and cost. Nonetheless, the project signals HONOR’s intent to push beyond conventional smartphone boundaries.

If all goes according to plan, we can expect the HONOR Robot Phone to debut sometime in 2026, marking one of the boldest design experiments in the smartphone industry yet.
