Apple has officially unveiled one of its most unexpected (and perhaps most overpriced) accessories yet — the iPhone Pocket, a fabric “phone sock” that can be worn or tied to a bag like a fashion sling.

Developed in collaboration with Issey Miyake, the iPhone Pocket is designed to carry your iPhone — and maybe a few “everyday essentials” — while doubling as a fashion statement. It comes in two variants: a short strap model priced at $149.95, and a long strap version that costs a staggering $229.95.

The short strap edition comes in a range of colors including black, cinnamon, lemon, mandarin, peacock, pink, purple, and sapphire, while the long strap model is limited to black, cinnamon, and sapphire. Availability begins November 14, across select stores in the US, UK, France, China, Japan, Italy, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.

While Apple has a history of selling premium-priced accessories — from the $19 polishing cloth to the $700 Mac Pro wheels — the iPhone Pocket might be its quirkiest yet. The company appears to be targeting fashion-conscious users who want to merge tech with style.

However, not everyone is convinced. Many have already called it out as a glorified phone sock, and some Android users are hoping that rival brands don’t follow suit. After all, the last thing the smartphone market needs is another “luxury” accessory that’s essentially… a pouch on a string.

Because let’s face it — spending $230 on something that’s basically a phone sling? That’s peak Apple.
