Samsung has launched the One UI 8.5 beta program in the U.S., bringing a range of improvements aimed at making daily tasks easier, enhancing device connectivity, and boosting security features for its Galaxy users.
One of the key highlights is the upgraded Photo Assist, which now allows continuous image creation and editing without having to save each step. Users can also review the entire edit history for better control over their photos. The Quick Share feature gets smarter by recognizing people in photos and suggesting relevant contacts to share with, streamlining the sharing process.
In terms of connectivity, Samsung introduces Audio Broadcast, enabling communication with nearby LE Audio-supported devices through Auracast technology. This is designed for group audio experiences and currently available on the Galaxy S25 series. Another handy update is Storage Share, which allows users to access files stored on other Galaxy devices—such as tablets, PCs, and Samsung TVs—directly through the My Files app. This feature supports remote file access, making cross-device file management more seamless than ever.
Security is also enhanced with new protections including Theft Protection to keep devices and data safe if lost or stolen, a Failed Authentication Lock that activates after multiple failed unlock attempts, and expanded Identity Check mechanisms to safeguard sensitive system changes.
The One UI 8.5 beta is rolling out starting December 8 to Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra users via the Samsung Members app in the U.S. Some features require specific conditions like an internet connection, a Samsung account, and compatible devices or software versions.
These updates collectively make Samsung’s software ecosystem more user-friendly, connected, and secure, offering Galaxy users a smoother and safer experience.
