Galaxy Z Fold 8 Leak: iPad-Style Design Spotted

Samsung might be plotting a major design shake-up for its foldable lineup, and a sneaky company survey could have just spilled the beans.

According to SammyGuru, images from a recent Samsung survey showcase a mysterious book-style foldable that looks nothing like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Instead of the tall, narrow profile we’re used to, this one unfolds into something more tablet-esque—think iPad mini vibes—with a wider, shorter stance when closed. It’s a far cry from the square inner screen rumored earlier, and it echoes the chunkier look of the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The leak aligns with September reports from ET News, which claimed Samsung plans two Z Fold 8 models in 2026: the standard successor to the Fold 7 and a bolder, wider variant. That one could sport an 18:9 outer screen and near-square 18:18 inner display, ditching the Fold 7‘s skinnier 21:9 cover and 20:18 unfold. Samsung hasn’t named the device in the survey, so it’s likely just market testing for now.

This pivot feels like a direct shot at Apple. Rumors point to Apple’s first foldable iPhone—possibly launching with the iPhone 18 Pro later this year—as a short, wide slab mimicking the iPad mini. Samsung, ever the rival, seems ready to beat them to the punch with a Fold 8 that’s wider and more pocket-friendly (or less awkwardly tall, at least).

Don’t get too excited yet—these survey mocks don’t guarantee production, and designs could still shift. But with foldables heating up, Samsung’s push for variety makes sense: not everyone loves the current Fold’s proportions. Expect the full Z Fold 8 (and its mystery sibling) reveal around summer 2026, alongside the Z Flip 8.
