Tesla owners with iPhones might soon wave goodbye to Bluetooth key frustrations. Hidden in version 4.52.0 of the Tesla app, code references “Harmony Wallet Key Cards,” signaling groundwork for native digital wallet integration—including Apple’s Car Key in Wallet.
This upgrade shifts from the current Phone Key system, which relies on constant Bluetooth via the background app but fails if iOS kills it for battery savings. Native Wallet uses iPhone’s Secure Element with NFC and Ultra-Wideband for seamless, hardware-level access—no unlocking required.

Why It Fixes Real Pain Points
Battery drain woes vanish: even if your iPhone dies, Power Reserve keeps NFC alive for hours to unlock and start the Tesla. Initially tied to Huawei’s HarmonyOS for China, the iOS framework paves the way for universal wallet keys, softening Tesla’s app-only stance.
Imagine approaching your car hands-free, no app fiddling—pure convenience that rivals BMW or Mercedes Car Keys.
