Apple iPhone users have long awaited a smarter Siri, and excitement builds as the first preview could drop by late January 2026 via iOS 26.4 Beta 1. The upgraded assistant, powered by Apple Intelligence, promises contextual awareness and cross-app actions that rival Gemini and ChatGPT. This update marks a pivotal step in transforming Siri from basic commands to a true personal AI companion.

Siri’s Delayed but Promising Evolution

Apple first teased the revamped Siri in a September 2024 ad featuring actress Bella Ramsey, where Siri recalled a name from past emails, calendar entries, and messages—like identifying “Zac Wingate” from a July 3rd cafe meetup. A planned launch last March faced indefinite delays, pushing features to iOS 26.4 expected in March 2026. Beta testers subscribed to Apple’s program can install iOS 26.4 Beta 1 soon after stable iOS 26 releases, offering an early glimpse without waiting for the full rollout.

Key Upgrades in iOS 26.4

The new Siri understands on-screen context, so spotting an address lets you say “Add this to Contacts” without spelling it out. It executes multi-step tasks across apps, such as “Find yesterday’s beach photo and send to Suzanne,” by scanning Photos, Messages, Mail, and Calendar. Siri will also evolve into a Large Language Model with a web-powered answer engine for summarized responses to general queries, ditching link lists for direct insights like modern AI tools.
