Google expands its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature to AI Mode within Search, connecting Gmail and Google Photos for personalized recommendations on travel, shopping, and lifestyle queries. This opt-in enhancement tailors results to users’ emails, photos, schedules, and past activities without training AI on personal data.
Personalized Features

Users receive context-aware suggestions—like family-friendly itineraries based on past trips or weather-appropriate shopping picks from prior purchases. Creative prompts such as “my life as a movie title” or “perfect day description” draw from connected apps. Internal tests showed users discovering relevant ideas they hadn’t considered.
Privacy Controls

Strictly opt-in via Search settings > Connected Content Apps, users can disconnect anytime, regenerate non-personalized responses, or use thumbs-down feedback. Gemini 3 processes prompts securely without storing or training on Gmail/Photos content, explaining sources for verification.
Availability
Rolling out now as a Labs feature for Google AI Pro/Ultra subscribers in the U.S. (English only), excluding Workspace accounts. Enable through profile > Search personalization after last week’s Gemini app rollout.
