For UK players who declare themselves as 18 or older, Microsoft has started prompting optional age verification notifications on their Xbox accounts. By early 2026, verifying age will become mandatory to fully access Xbox social features such as voice and text chat, and game invites. Users who choose not to verify will still be able to play games, make purchases, and earn achievements, but their social interaction will be limited to friends.
