realme has announced an extension to its software update policy for the realme 15 series and select realme 14 series smartphones, enhancing the support timeline by an additional year. Specifically, the realme 15, realme 15 Pro, realme 14T, realme 14 Pro, and realme 14 Pro+ models will now receive 3 major Android OS updates and 4 years of security updates. This update cycle matches that of the realme GT series and improves upon the original policy of 2 Android OS updates and 3 years of security patches announced at their launch.
These phones launched with Android 15, so with the revised policy, they will continue to receive OS updates up to Android 18 and will receive security updates until 2028. However, this extended update policy does not apply to the realme 14x model.
Francis Wong from realme has confirmed that this extended policy applies to all future Number series devices (Number Pro, Number, and Number T variants). Additionally, realme plans to announce similar update policies soon for its P Series smartphones, which likely includes the realme P3, P3 Pro, P3 Ultra, and the upcoming realme P4 series.
This enhancement reflects realme’s commitment to longer device longevity and better user experience by providing ongoing software support and security updates over a more extended period.
