Indian smartphone brand Lava has unveiled its latest 5G device, the Lava Play Ultra, as part of the company’s new Play series, following the recent Blaze AMOLED 2 launch. The new mid-range smartphone brings premium features like a 120Hz AMOLED display, Dimensity 7300 processor, and a 64MP OIS Sony camera, all at a competitive price.
Design and Durability
Carrying a flat-edge modern design, the device comes in Arctic Frost and Arctic Slate color options. It features an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensor, and USB Type-C audio support.

Display and Performance
The Play Ultra sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ flat AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1000 nits peak brightness for vibrant visuals. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, built on a 4nm process, paired with the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. Lava highlights the MediaTek HyperEngine optimizations, which promise up to 20% higher FPS, improved graphics quality, and better battery efficiency during gaming.
The device is available in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM options, with up to 8GB additional virtual RAM for multitasking. Storage includes 128GB UFS 3.1, expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.
Camera Capabilities
On the imaging front, the Lava Play Ultra features a 64MP primary rear camera with the Sony IMX682 sensor and OIS, ensuring sharper and more stable photography. The setup is complemented by a 5MP macro camera. For selfies, it houses a 13MP front-facing camera.
Camera features include Night Mode, Portrait, AI enhancements, HDR, Beauty Mode, Panorama, Slow Motion, Pro Video, Dual View Video, AR Stickers, Google Lens integration, and more—covering professional and creative use cases.
Software and Updates
The phone runs on Android 15 out-of-the-box, free from bloatware, a feature Lava has consistently emphasized in its recent launches. The company promises two major Android updates and three years of security updates, making it a solid long-term purchase in this segment.

Packing a 5000mAh battery, the Lava Play Ultra also supports 33W fast charging, with a compatible charger included in the box.
