Alongside the launch of its flagship Pixel 10 series, Google unveiled a range of new software experiences designed to enhance creativity, productivity, and everyday usability on Pixel devices. Leading the list is the brand-new Pixel Journal app, powered by AI assistance, along with major updates to Pixel Recorder, Screenshots, Pixel Studio, and Gboard.
Pixel Journal App: Quick Notes with AI Suggestions
The Pixel Journal app offers a streamlined way to capture daily thoughts and memories. Opening directly into a compose view, the app lets you write entries, attach images, maps, and Health Connect activity data.
What sets it apart is the integration of Gemini AI-powered prompts, suggesting topics based on past entries, memories, or even personal goals. An Entries tab organizes notes in reverse-chronological order, while an Insights feed provides a calendar-style emoji overview of moods and activity. For privacy-conscious users, Google has also included the ability to lock the app.

Pixel Recorder Gets a Music-Creation Boost
The popular Recorder app is receiving a significant upgrade with:
- Material 3 expressive refresh for a more colorful, modern look.
- Thicker, more animated waveforms for an improved UI experience.
- An enhanced recording interface with larger buttons.
Most notably, Recorder now features music creation tools, allowing users to hum a tune or sing a verse, after which AI automatically generates a background instrumental. Users can apply different styles like Chill Beats or Dance Party, making it easier than ever to create shareable musical snippets.
The app also supports transcript uploads to NotebookLM, expanding its utility as a productivity and AI-driven writing companion.
Screenshots and NotebookLM Integration
The Pixel Screenshots app is also getting smarter with NotebookLM integration. Captured screenshots are automatically analyzed, and if relevant, the system will suggest adding them to a notebook for easier organization and future reference.
Pixel Studio: Imagen 4 Tools for Creative Editing
Pixel Studio now incorporates Imagen 4, Google’s latest generative AI model, bringing new editing superpowers to screenshots and images. Features include:
- Erase objects and replace them with AI-generated fills.
- Insert new objects using prompts.
- AI-based background replacement for images.
- Stickers and prompt-driven augmentation to personalize graphics.
This tightens Google’s push into on-device creative tools powered by AI.
Gboard Adds Smart Edit and Writing Tools
Google’s Gboard keyboard has also received a powerful productivity upgrade. The new Writing Tools feature reviews text for spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes while offering rephrasing suggestions in different tones — from professional to friendly or descriptive.
An additional Smart Edit function lets users precisely insert, delete, or replace words and punctuation with both manual controls and AI-assisted automation. Both features can even be triggered via voice commands, such as “Rephrase this” or “Fix typos.”
The Pixel 10 launch isn’t just about new hardware—it’s also a showcase of AI-driven apps and updates across the Pixel ecosystem. From AI journaling to music creation in Recorder, NotebookLM integrations, and smarter Gboard text editing, Google is positioning Pixel devices as deeply personalized creative and productivity companions.
With these tools, the Pixel 10 lineup aims to offer more than just cutting-edge hardware—it’s about delivering a smarter, AI-first user experience.
