Google has announced a major upgrade to its Circle to Search translation feature on Android devices, introducing a continuous translation experience dubbed “Scroll and Translate.” This new functionality allows text translations to persist seamlessly as users scroll through content, swipe across screens, or even switch between apps without having to restart the translation process.
Previously, users had to trigger a new translation each time the visible text changed due to scrolling or app switching. Now, once Circle to Search is activated, and the “Translate” icon selected with “Scroll and translate” enabled, translations automatically update with the changing content in real-time. This eliminates interruptions and significantly improves user convenience when browsing foreign language content on social media, websites, or apps.

The update is starting to roll out this week on select Samsung Galaxy devices, with plans to expand to other Android smartphones in the coming weeks. Google emphasized that translation is one of the most frequently used features within Circle to Search, and this enhancement makes it an even more practical tool for cross-language understanding during travel, shopping, and everyday digital interactions.
To use the feature, users can long-press the home button or navigation bar to activate Circle to Search, tap the “Translate” icon, and then press “Scroll and translate.” A glow around the screen and a language indicator confirm that the continuous translation mode is active. To exit, users simply tap the close button.
This improvement continues Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance Circle to Search, which also includes AI-driven overviews, one-tap actions for items like phone numbers and URLs, and an AI Mode for asking follow-up questions. The new “Scroll and Translate” feature brings a smoother, uninterrupted translation experience, advancing Circle to Search’s role as a versatile, everyday assistive tool on Android.
