Amazon has expanded its ultra-fast 10-minute delivery service, Amazon Now, to select parts of Mumbai. The service, which was earlier available only in Bengaluru and Delhi, lets customers order thousands of everyday essentials and have them delivered within minutes.
To make this possible, Amazon has set up over 100 micro-fulfillment centers in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, with plans to open many more by the end of the year. These small, tech-enabled warehouses are located close to residential areas to ensure quick delivery. They use smart inventory systems to place products based on what local customers need the most, aiming to speed up delivery times.
Amazon Now offers a wide range of essential products, including groceries, personal care items, beauty products, electronic accessories, and pet supplies. The service combines products from many sellers with Amazon’s reliable delivery system.
The company plans to keep expanding this service to more neighborhoods in the three cities and launch it in other cities soon. Customers can check if Amazon Now is available in their area by looking for the “10 mins” icon on the Amazon app.
Amazon says the service has been very popular, with orders growing 25% month over month and Prime members shopping more frequently using Amazon Now. This expansion comes just before the festive season, making it easier for people to get daily essentials quickly.
This new service puts Amazon in competition with other quick delivery platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, aiming to capture a larger share of India’s fast-growing quick commerce market.
