Qualcomm has officially announced the name Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for its next flagship processor, the successor to the 2024 Snapdragon 8 Elite. According to Don McGuire, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, this new naming helps simplify the product lineup for consumers and phone makers.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is designed to deliver the best performance and innovation, with the “Elite” branding reserved for Qualcomm’s top-tier SoCs. This processor will be built on TSMC’s advanced 3 nm process node, featuring an octa-core Oryon CPU and the powerful Adreno 840 GPU for enhanced graphics.

Although detailed specs remain under wraps, leaks suggest the chip will have 2 high-performance Oryon cores and 6 additional Oryon cores for efficiency. Early benchmark scores show a massive leap in performance—over 4 million points on AnTuTu, which is around 56% better than its predecessor.

Qualcomm plans to reveal full details of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at the Snapdragon Summit scheduled for September 23, 2025. This chipset will power many high-end Android smartphones launching in late 2025 and 2026, including premium models like the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.
