OPPO will officially introduce ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, on October 15, 2025, one day before the launch of its Find X9 series. The new OS aims to deliver a user experience centered around “smooth nature and excellent AI,” promising significant enhancements in performance, visual effects, and power efficiency.

Aurora Engine for Seamless Experience

ColorOS 16 debuts the Aurora Engine, claimed to be “Android’s first seamless architecture.” This engine unifies the system’s drawing process, enabling smooth animations, dynamic effects, and transitions. It also benefits third-party apps by improving click response speed by 40% and sliding frame stability by 52%, making everyday usage noticeably smoother.

Star Compiler – A New Hardware-Optimized Compiler

The OS introduces the Star Compiler, OPPO’s self-developed compiler for Android, which supports hardware-specific optimizations for Java code. This technology improves compilation efficiency, allowing apps to run more smoothly and efficiently on the device’s hardware.

Tidal Engine with Dynamic Frame Tracking

The Tidal Engine is another key feature. Its chip-level dynamic frame tracking anticipates rendering delays and increases the chip’s power as needed to prevent frame drops or freezes. This technology improves performance stability by 37% in heavy-load conditions while reducing power consumption by 13%, supporting OPPO’s promise of “6 years of smooth use.”

Availability and Devices

ColorOS 16 will debut on October 15, 2025, with the OPPO Find X9 series and OPPO Pad 5 launching shortly afterward. The update will also come pre-installed on the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6 when these devices launch in China later in the year. OPPO will announce the rollout schedule for other devices during the launch event.
