Facebook Dating now has two new AI features called Dating Assistant and Meet Cute. These tools are being rolled out to help users find better matches and make online dating less tiring.
What is Dating Assistant?
Dating Assistant is a chatbot inside Facebook Dating. It lets users type in custom prompts—like “Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech”—to get more personalized matches, rather than just swiping through profiles. It can also give advice on improving your profile or suggest date ideas. You’ll find this feature in the Matches tab, and it’s gradually arriving in the US and Canada.

What is Meet Cute?
Meet Cute uses Facebook’s algorithm to recommend one surprise match each week. This gives users a fresh option without endless swiping. If you’re tired of swiping or want to meet new types of people, this is made for you. Facebook may let users change how often they get these surprise matches in the future.

Why Do They Feel Like Black Mirror?
These AI matchmaking features are similar to the idea in the TV show “Black Mirror,” where an algorithm helps people find their perfect partner. While Facebook’s approach isn’t as intense, it does use algorithms to suggest matches and new dating ideas.
Meta hopes these features will give people a more comfortable and enjoyable dating experience without the usual swipe fatigue.
