Apple has officially teased the launch of a new MacBook powered by its next-generation M5 chip. In a recent X post, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, posted a short video featuring the words “coming soon” and a silhouette of a MacBook shaped like a Roman numeral V—hinting at the M5 branding. Joswiak’s playful “Mmmmm” caption, with five Ms, further teased the imminent arrival of the powerful new device.

This announcement aligns with reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who revealed Apple plans to unveil a base-model MacBook Pro with the M5 chip as soon as this week. The launch is anticipated alongside updates to the iPad Pro line, which has already been spotted in leaked unboxings featuring the M5 chip, and possibly a Vision Pro headset upgrade.
The M5 chip is expected to bring notable improvements in speed and efficiency, being built on TSMC’s advanced 3-nanometer process. Early benchmarks from an M5 iPad Pro show CPU performance gains of over 12% and GPU improvements exceeding 36% compared to the M4 chip. The M5 MacBook Pro is rumored to feature a similar 10-core CPU configuration to the current M4 model, possibly with a fresh blue color option as hinted in the teaser.
While M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models are expected to arrive later in early 2026, the base M5 MacBook Pro refresh this month is designed to deliver powerful performance for professionals and everyday users alike.
Apple enthusiasts eagerly await the official unveiling, which could come through a dedicated event or a series of announcements in the coming days.
