Apple may be stepping away from the iPhone Air lineup sooner than expected. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has reportedly slashed iPhone Air production by nearly 80%, signaling a weak market response to the company’s thinnest iPhone ever.

Launched in September 2025, the iPhone Air drew attention for its ultra-slim design, but its compromises in battery life, camera performance, and thermal management didn’t sit well with buyers—especially when the more powerful iPhone 17 Pro offered better value for only a slightly higher price.

Kuo’s report suggests that Apple’s suppliers have already been told to scale back production by the first quarter of 2026, with component supplies expected to halt by the end of this year.

This move could mean the iPhone 18 lineup in 2026 might feature only three models—iPhone 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max—or potentially a new form factor. With Apple’s “Mini,” “Plus,” and now possibly “Air” models phased out, the brand’s smartphone lineup may be more streamlined than ever.

Meanwhile, rumors indicate that Apple’s first foldable iPhone remains on track for a 2027 debut, leaving fans curious about what innovation Apple will introduce next year to fill the gap.
