Apple is significantly advancing its display technology for its iPad and MacBook lineup, with a planned transition to OLED screens across all models. Starting with the iPad Mini, which is expected to be the first device to feature an OLED display as early as 2026, Apple aims to enhance visual quality with richer colors and deeper blacks, along with a water-resistant design to further improve durability.

The flagship MacBook Pro will be the next device in line, with a rollout anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027. This marks a major redesign, including the adoption of OLED technology and potentially a new form factor with a hole-punch display instead of the notch, providing a more immersive display experience and better contrast.

Following the MacBook Pro, the iPad Air is expected to switch to OLED sometime around 2027, while the MacBook Air will be the last in the lineup to receive OLED upgrades, likely around 2028, with the current models still retaining LCD panels until then.

Overall, this transition indicates Apple’s move towards premium, high-contrast, and efficient OLED displays across its entire tablet and laptop range, aligning with industry trends and increasing the visual and operational quality of its devices. The upgrade will likely come with higher prices and a notable final shift in Apple’s product ecosystem by the late 2020s.
