Samsung’s next-generation flagships might finally deliver the meaningful upgrades fans have been waiting for. According to new leaks discovered in firmware data by Smartprix, the upcoming Galaxy S26 and S26+ are expected to feature significant improvements in both camera performance and battery life.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ are said to be getting a new 50MP ISOCELL S5KGNG main sensor, replacing the long-used GN3 sensor. This upgrade should bring better dynamic range and low-light performance. Alongside that, the telephoto camera is rumored to receive a bump to 12MP with the new ISOCELL S5K3LD sensor — a sharper improvement over the 10MP zoom shooter found in the S25. The ultrawide lens might remain the same at 12MP, using Sony’s IMX564 sensor.

Video capabilities are also getting some love. Both phones may support Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec, offering 4K 60fps recording on both front and rear cameras — regardless of whether they ship with the Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets.

On the power side, the standard Galaxy S26 will reportedly pack a 4,300mAh battery, a noticeable jump from the 4,000mAh cell in the S25. The S26+ is expected to maintain its 4,900mAh capacity, though better efficiency from the new processors could still mean improved real-world battery life.

With Samsung also rumored to add Qi2 magnetic wireless charging and better thermals, the S26 lineup could strike a balance between power, endurance, and sleek design.

If these leaks prove true, the Galaxy S26 and S26+ could finally make the non-Ultra models worth upgrading — addressing the biggest complaints about recent Galaxy flagships: modest camera gains and underwhelming battery life.
