Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is anticipated to launch in early 2026, and fresh leaks have revealed exciting upgrades around its charging capabilities and chipset. According to well-known tipster @UniverseIce on X and Weibo, Samsung will boost the fast-charging speed for the S26 Ultra to 60W, an improvement over the long-standing 45W charging supported since the launch of the Galaxy Note 10+ in 2019.

Upgraded Charging But Same Battery Size

While the charging speed is expected to increase, the battery capacity will likely remain at 5000mAh, consistent with its predecessors since the Galaxy S20 Ultra debuted in 2020. The faster charging will help reduce charging time significantly without compromising battery size.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy: Faster and More Powerful

The Galaxy S26 Ultra should be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy chipset. This is a specialized variant of the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 that will debut at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in September 2025 and is expected to power several flagship devices next year.

According to the leak, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy will sport a peak clock speed of up to 4.74GHz, up from the 4.47GHz clock speed of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy found in the Galaxy S25 series. The standard Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip runs at a maximum of 4.32GHz, so this optimized variant could deliver noticeable performance gains. Built on TSMC’s advanced N3P process, the chipset is also expected to come with significantly improved GPU performance for better graphics rendering and gaming experiences.

Design and Dimensions

The tipster also shared that Samsung is continuing its trend of slimming flagship devices, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra expected to be under 8mm thick. Despite adopting a slightly larger screen, the overall length and width may increase marginally, but Samsung is reportedly reducing the device’s weight by a few grams, enhancing portability without compromising screen real estate.
