Google has expanded its AI-powered Search AI Mode to five new languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. This move makes the advanced search experience available to more people around the world.

Smarter Than Translation

According to Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Product Management, simply translating answers was not enough to create a global AI search tool. With the help of Google’s custom Gemini 2.5 model, AI Mode can now understand complex queries and provide locally relevant results in these languages.

What AI Mode Can Do

  • Handles longer and more detailed questions that usually need multiple searches
  • Accepts text, voice, and even image-based queries
  • Helps with tasks like planning trips, comparing destinations, or finding local suggestions
  • Offers clear answers with summaries, tables, and links for more reading

Examples

If you upload a balcony photo and ask in Hindi which night-blooming flowers would suit the rainy season, AI Mode can suggest fragrant plants like raat ki rani or moonflower. You can also ask follow-up questions about plant care.

Similarly, if you search for a comparison between holidaying in Vietnam and Sri Lanka in October, AI Mode can generate a side-by-side table for easier decision-making.

Availability

  • Rollout date: September 8, 2025
  • Languages added: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese

With this update, more users can now explore information easily and naturally in their own language using Google Search’s AI Mode.
