Xiaomi has confirmed that it will unveil HyperOS 3.0, the next major software update for its phones, at an event in China on August 28, 2025, two months ahead of its usual schedule. This early launch marks a new chapter for Xiaomi’s operating system evolution, aiming to deliver a smoother and more responsive user experience.
A New Starting Point for Xiaomi’s OS
Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group Partner and President of the Mobile Phone Division, shared insights on the upcoming update. He described HyperOS 3 as “a new starting point” with a focus on making the system smooth, natural, and continuous. The goal is to offer users a fluid and intuitive interface that balances ease of use with satisfaction.
Early Beta Recruitment Underway
Xiaomi has begun recruiting beta testers for the new OS version in China. Eligible devices for the HyperOS 3 Beta include several smartphones and tablets:
- Smartphones: Xiaomi Mi 15 Ultra, Mi 15S Pro, Mi 15, Mi 15 Pro, Redmi K80 Pro, and Redmi K80 Ultimate Edition
- Tablets: Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro (12.5-inch) and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
Lu Weibing encouraged users to provide feedback and opinions to help refine the OS during this phased rollout.
Aligning Software Release to Android Updates
The earlier launch of HyperOS 3, compared to prior schedules, is believed to align Xiaomi’s software updates more closely with official Android releases, likely Android 16. This shift aims to narrow timing gaps caused by delayed Android version rollouts and optimize Xiaomi’s update strategy for better consistency.
