Insta360 is gearing up to launch its next-generation action camera, the Insta360 Go Ultra, with key details leaking ahead of a probable launch at IFA 2025 next month. This new model promises an upgraded design, enhanced video capabilities, and handy new features that will appeal to creators and adventurers alike.

Compact New Design and Build

The Insta360 Go Ultra features a square-shaped compact body measuring 30mm on each side, weighing 53 grams. This is heavier than the previous Go 3S (35.5g) but remains lightweight for on-the-go shooting. The camera sports a lens positioned at one corner, providing an improved balanced form for mounting versatility.

Major Sensor Upgrade and Video Performance

A standout upgrade is the inclusion of a new 1/1.28-inch sensor, which is significantly larger than previous models. This allows the Go Ultra to capture crisp 4K video at 60 frames per second (fps) — double the framerate of the Insta360 Go 3S (which capped at 4K 30fps). The camera also supports:

  • Active HDR mode for 4K at 30fps
  • Advanced stabilization with FlowState tech
  • Horizon lock to keep footage steady and level

Redesigned Action Pod with Flip-Up Screen

The Go Ultra introduces a revamped Action Pod dock that includes a flip-up display. This screen can be used as a live preview monitor and doubles as a wireless remote control. The dock is expected to provide extended battery life for longer shooting sessions.

Other notable features include a magnetic mount for attaching the display housing or a pendant, and fast charging capability that can replenish up to 80% battery in just 10 minutes.

Pricing and Availability

While the exact launch date remains unconfirmed, IFA Berlin 2025 (September 5–9) is widely anticipated as the unveiling event for the Insta360 Go Ultra. The pricing is expected to be close to the current Insta360 Go 3S, which retails around $400. However, there may be a slight price increase with this latest upgrade.
