JioHotstar has announced a groundbreaking set of new AI-powered features aimed at revolutionizing the user experience, unveiled at Reliance’s 48th Annual General Meeting. Central to these updates is the introduction of RIYA, an AI-driven voice assistant designed to simplify content discovery and navigation across the platform’s vast library.
Navigating thousands of hours of content can be challenging for users, and RIYA addresses this by allowing natural speech voice commands to search for specific shows, seasons, or episodes. Unlike traditional search, RIYA understands human speech patterns and intent, curating personalized content and eliminating the need for manual browsing and scrolling.
Alongside RIYA, JioHotstar is introducing “Voice Print,” an innovative AI-powered dubbing and localization feature. This technology uses voice cloning and real-time lip-sync to allow actors or commentators’ voices to be dubbed into multiple Indian languages while preserving their unique vocal characteristics and perfectly aligning with their on-screen lip movements. This advancement aims to maintain the authenticity of performances, enhancing the viewing experience of content such as live cricket matches, sports commentary, and movies.
Additionally, JioHotstar announced JioLenZ, a technology that allows users to personalize how they watch content through various viewing angles and perspectives within a single stream. This feature adapts the content layout according to the device being used, enabling seamless switching between formats customized for sports and entertainment.
Cricket fans will benefit from MaxView 3.0, an upgraded, mobile-first cricket viewing mode. This interactive feature consolidates multiple camera angles, live scorecards, instant highlights, and language options into one accessible and intuitive screen, making cricket viewing more immersive and user-friendly on mobile devices.
These technological advancements come as JioHotstar celebrates rapid platform growth. With an extensive content library exceeding 320,000 hours and growing by 30,000 hours annually, the platform boasts a user base of over 600 million, including 75 million connected TV users and 300 million paying subscribers. JioHotstar has emerged as one of the largest streaming platforms globally, significantly outpacing competitors.
By integrating AI to enhance content discovery, personalization, localization, and interaction, JioHotstar aims to offer a smarter, more engaging streaming experience tailored to the diverse preferences of its broad user base.
These features signal a new era for JioHotstar, emphasizing voice, language, and mobile-first designs to deliver content exactly the way viewers want to see and hear it. The rollout of these AI capabilities promises to reshape how millions of users across India and beyond access and enjoy entertainment.
