MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 7300 and 7300X, a pair of energy-efficient smartphone processors built on a 4nm manufacturing process. These chips succeed the Dimensity 7050 released last year and offer significant improvements in performance, power consumption, and camera capabilities.
Improved Performance and Power Efficiency
Both the Dimensity 7300 and 7300X feature an octa-core CPU with four high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.5 GHz alongside four energy-efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores. The 4nm process delivers up to 25% lower power consumption compared to the 6nm Dimensity 7050.
The chips also boast an Arm Mali-G615 GPU and MediaTek HyperEngine technology for enhanced gaming experiences. MediaTek claims the Dimensity 7300 series delivers 20% faster FPS (frames per second) and 20% improved energy efficiency compared to competitors.
Focus on Photography
The Dimensity 7300 series integrates MediaTek Imagiq 950, featuring a 12-bit HDR-ISP (Image Signal Processor) that supports high-resolution cameras up to 200MP. The chipset also includes new hardware engines for noise reduction, face detection, and video HDR. Compared to the Dimensity 7050, it offers 1.3x faster live focus photos and 1.5x faster photo remastering.
Dimensity 7300X: Designed for Foldables
The Dimensity 7300X is specifically designed for foldable phones with dual displays. It supports higher refresh rates, reaching 144Hz for Full HD+ resolution.
AI Boost
The MediaTek APU 655 integrated into the Dimensity 7300 series promises double the AI performance of the Dimensity 7050. This can enhance various phone features like facial recognition, camera capabilities, and voice assistants.
Other Features
- Support for LPDDR5/LPDDR4x memory and UFS 3.1 storage.
- Integrated 5G modem with advanced features like carrier aggregation and wide bandwidth support.
- Wi-Fi 6E connectivity for faster wireless networking.
- Bluetooth 5.4 for connecting to wireless accessories.
Availability
MediaTek has not yet announced which smartphones will be the first to use these chipsets. However, rumors suggest that the motorola razr 50 foldable phone, expected to launch in June, might be the first to sport the Dimensity 7300X.
The Dimensity 7300 and 7300X represent a significant leap forward for MediaTek, offering competitive performance, improved power efficiency, and features tailored for high-end smartphones and foldable devices.
