In a surprising move, Nothing has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of the CMF Phone 1, the first smartphone under its new CMF sub-brand. The announcement comes after months of rumors and speculation, and it promises to deliver a unique and innovative device to the market.

Design and Features

The teaser image shared by Nothing showcases a dial similar to the one found on the CMF Neckband Pro, hinting at a leather finish for the CMF Phone 1. This unique design element sets the device apart from Nothing’s previous offerings, such as the Nothing Phone (2a).

One of the most intriguing features of the CMF Phone 1 is the “Nothing Lock” system, which allows users to connect proprietary accessories like support brackets and lanyards to a dedicated connector on the back of the device. This novel approach to smartphone accessories is sure to pique the interest of tech enthusiasts.

Specifications and Performance

According to rumors, the CMF Phone 1 will pack a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display, a dual-camera setup on the back with a 50MP primary sensor, and a 16MP front-facing camera. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, similar to the one found in the Nothing Phone (2a).

The phone is expected to offer 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and options for 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with the possibility to expand memory via a MicroSD card. A 5000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging will provide ample power, although it falls short of the 45W charging support in the Phone (2a).

Pricing and Availability

One of the most exciting aspects of the CMF Phone 1 is its rumored pricing. Based on earlier reports, the device is expected to start at USD 249 (Rs. 20,785 approx.) for the 128GB model and USD 279 (Rs. 23,290 approx.) for the 256GB variant. This aggressive pricing positions the Phone 1 as a compelling option for budget-conscious consumers.

The phone is anticipated to launch in July 2024, alongside the potential flagship sibling, the Nothing Phone (3). However, it’s important to note that the Nothing Phone (3) is not expected to launch until 2025, as confirmed by the company’s CEO Carl Pei.

The launch of the CMF Phone 1 marks a significant milestone for Nothing, as it expands its product lineup beyond the Nothing Phone series. With its unique design, innovative features, and competitive pricing, the CMF Phone 1 has the potential to disrupt the budget smartphone market and attract a new audience to Nothing’s ecosystem.

As the launch date approaches, more details about the device are likely to emerge, and tech enthusiasts will eagerly await the official unveiling of the CMF Phone 1 in July 2024.
