London-based tech startup Nothing is set to release two new audio products on April 18th. This comes after their initial foray into the market with the Nothing Ear (1) earbuds in 2022.

The new products will be called simply “Nothing Ear” and “Nothing Ear (a)”. The former is designed for audiophiles, while the latter is targeted for everyday use. This marks a departure from their previous naming scheme, which was expected to see a “Nothing Ear (3)” this time around.

According to Nothing, Audio the new naming system reflects their focus on the core functionalities of the devices rather than version numbers. They recommend choosing a product based on features rather than relying on numbers for upgrades.

While details are scarce, some information has been revealed. The Nothing Ear will boast a new ceramic driver for enhanced sound and bass, while the Ear (a) will offer improved noise cancellation (45db compared to 40db in the Ear 2).

More details regarding the new naming scheme, the “no-nomenclature” approach, and the specifics of the earbuds will likely be unveiled on April 18th.
