Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold7 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York, marking the next evolution in foldable smartphones. The device features larger, brighter displays, a powerful new camera system, and a sleek, ultra-thin design that makes it one of the lightest foldables on the market.

Bigger, Brighter Displays

The Galaxy Z Fold7 sports an 8-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, which is 11% larger than its predecessor. It supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz for smooth scrolling and power efficiency, and delivers up to 2600 nits peak brightness. The under-display camera (UDC) has been replaced with a 10MP punch-hole camera for improved selfie quality.

Flagship Camera System

Samsung has equipped the Z Fold7 with a 200MP main sensor, the first in the Fold series, offering four times the detail and 44% brighter images compared to the previous generation. The camera setup also includes a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom.

The front-facing cameras include a 10MP sensor on both the cover and main displays, with wide fields of view to capture more in group selfies.

Ultra-Sleek and Durable Design

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is impressively thin and light:

  • Thickness: 8.9mm folded, 4.2mm unfolded

Durability is enhanced by Samsung’s Armor FlexHinge, which is thinner and lighter, featuring a multi-rail structure to reduce creasing. The foldable display includes a titanium plate layer and 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) for strength.

The device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover display and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back. The frame and hinge housing use advanced Armor Aluminum, increasing strength by 10%. It also carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.

Software and AI Enhancements

Running Android 16 with One UI 8, the Galaxy Z Fold7 offers AI-powered editing tools optimized for its large screen:

  • Photo Assist for object manipulation
  • Portrait Studio for refined portraits
  • Generative Edit with AI suggestions
  • Enhanced Audio Eraser for background noise removal

One UI 8 introduces a multimodal AI agent for multitasking and contextual assistance, along with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) for improved security.
