Samsung is introducing a new color tuning option in its upcoming One UI 8 update, but it comes with a catch that may frustrate users: the new “Vivid” photo style requires a watermark on photos. This has been confirmed by a popular tipster, Ice Universe, who shared insights and camera samples from the new feature tested on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

What’s New?

  • Samsung will add a second color tuning option called “Vivid” in One UI 8 for enhanced, more vibrant images.
  • This photo style activates a watermark automatically, which users cannot currently disable.
  • The watermark is a “Chinese-style” photo signature added around the photo, showing camera settings such as ISO, focal length, aperture, and shutter speed in a framed design.
  • This new watermark replaces the simpler watermarks seen before, which usually only displayed the device name and timestamp.
  • Samsung plans to roll this out initially on the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7, with other devices to follow.

User Concerns

Many users might find the mandatory watermark intrusive, especially since it affects the aesthetics of the photo. While some users, including the tipster, seem unconcerned, others may prefer an option to use the Vivid photo style without the watermark, as some competitors like Vivo already offer.

Additional Features

  • One UI 8 will allow users to toggle the watermark on or off quickly from the camera toolbar.
  • The watermark details outside the photo make the picture appear framed, giving a professional touch with photo metadata visible.

Availability

Samsung is expected to release One UI 8 for Galaxy S25 models and Z Fold 7 soon, with a stable rollout planned after the beta phase. Other Galaxy devices will receive the update later.
