Samsung has officially announced the launch date for its first “AI-native” device, codenamed Project Moohan, marking the company’s entry into the extended reality (XR) segment. The device will debut globally on October 21, introducing a new product category built on the Android XR platform, co-developed with Google and Qualcomm.
According to Samsung, this platform has been designed from the ground up with embedded AI, making it open and scalable for future immersive devices. The first product in this line, expected to be branded as Galaxy XR, aims to merge everyday productivity tools with next-generation XR experiences.
Leaks and reports suggest the device will feature dual 4K micro‑OLED displays, offering up to 29 million pixels, along with advanced sensors capable of eye and gesture tracking. Powering the headset is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, optimized for spatial computing and real-time AI tasks.
The official launch event will stream live on the Samsung Newsroom and the company’s YouTube channel, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET on October 21 (or 7:30 a.m. IST on October 22).
Samsung has also opened U.S. reservations, offering a USD 100 credit toward the purchase of the headset upon release.
