Snapchat is reportedly testing a new referral program that rewards users with a free month of Snapchat Plus if they invite three friends who sign up for the subscription service. This program surfaced through an APK teardown of Snapchat for Android beta (v13.51.0.53), revealing strings that explain how users can earn their free month by successfully bringing three new users into Snapchat Plus.
Snapchat Plus is a premium subscription that unlocks over 40 exclusive features such as custom app icons, themes, chat colors, story expiration options, extended best friends lists, story view notifications, and streak restore. The service is priced at $3.99 per month or $29.99 annually. There is also a Platinum Monthly Plan priced at $15.99, which removes ads and sponsored content, but this does not appear to be part of the referral incentive program.
The referral program’s exact mechanics remain unclear, including whether users can stack multiple free months by inviting more friends, but the strings found in the app clearly require three friends to sign up to unlock one free month of Snapchat Plus.
In addition to the referral program, Snapchat is working on integrating its recently acquired calendar app, Saturn, aimed at high school and college students. This integration will allow users to link their Saturn and Snapchat accounts to share calendar events, statuses, and communicate more easily with friends. Users can also unlink the accounts at any time if they choose. This feature is expected to streamline communication and planning for students within Snapchat, although it has not yet been publicly released.
Both these new features highlight Snapchat’s efforts to expand its ecosystem and enhance premium offerings, encouraging user growth and engagement through incentives and tighter app integrations.
The rollout date for these new Snapchat Plus incentives and the Saturn integration is still unknown, but they reflect upcoming enhancements aimed at retaining current users and attracting new subscribers.
