Spotify has started rolling out Lossless audio streaming for Premium subscribers in select countries. The new feature lets you listen to music in much higher quality, up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, giving more detail and clarity across most of Spotify’s library. Users will get an in-app notification once the upgrade is available.
What Spotify Lossless Brings
Lossless audio allows listeners to enjoy music in CD-like quality, much clearer than the standard compressed format. It joins other Premium-only features like DJ, Jam, AI Playlist, Mix, and daylist, plus curated editorial playlists from Spotify.
Custom Streaming Settings
Spotify now gives more control over audio quality across Wi-Fi, mobile data, and downloads. Users can choose from Low, Normal, High, Very High, and Lossless, with data-usage estimates shown for each option.
Supported Devices
Lossless playback works on mobile, desktop, and tablet apps, as well as on many Spotify Connect devices from brands like Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser. Support for Sonos and Amazon devices will arrive next month.
How to Enable Spotify Lossless Audio
- Open Spotify and tap your profile icon.
- Go to Settings & Privacy → Media Quality.
- Select Lossless for Wi-Fi, mobile data, or download settings.

When enabled, a Lossless indicator will appear in the Now Playing screen and Connect Picker. Users must enable it separately on each device.
Recommendations and Rollout
Spotify suggests using wired headphones, speakers, or Spotify Connect for the best quality since Bluetooth cannot carry full Lossless audio. Files are larger, so songs may load a little slower at first but should play smoothly after caching.
The feature is rolling out now in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK, with a planned expansion to over 50 markets by October 2025.
