Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile, has launched two new devices: the T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2, both powered by the innovative Magenta AI operating system based on Android 15. These devices come with Perplexity AI integrated at the OS level, offering users a glimpse into the future of AI-dependent smartphones and tablets.
T Phone 3 Highlights
The T Phone 3 features a 6.58-inch LTPS LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging, it is designed as an entry-level yet capable device, retailing at about €149.
The phone sports a dual-camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP macro shooter on the back, while the front houses a 13MP selfie camera within a waterdrop notch. It has a noticeable chin at the base and thick bezels around the sides, contributing to its rugged look. The device comes in a stylish Icy Silver color and is available from select carrier providers as part of certain monthly plans.
T Tablet 2 Features
The T Tablet 2 boasts a 10.1-inch IPS LCD FHD+ screen with TCL’s Nxtpaper display technology, which mimics natural paper and reduces eye strain, making it ideal for readers. It runs on a MediaTek MT8755 chipset, offers 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and supports 5G connectivity with dual nano-SIM slots.
The tablet is powered by a 6,000mAh battery with 15W charging and promises 5 Android OS upgrade cycles with 6 years of software support, ensuring long-term device reliability. A stylus is available separately for €29.95, enhancing productivity and creativity on the device.
Perplexity AI Integration
Both devices feature seamless integration with Perplexity AI, accessible via the Magenta AI button or the power button. This assistant enables users to perform tasks such as sending emails, translating messages, and scheduling events simply through voice commands, reducing the need to switch between multiple apps.
Availability
The T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2 are currently available in select European countries including Germany, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, and Slovakia. Deutsche Telekom plans to release a Pro version of the T Phone 3 later this year.
