T-Mobile has officially launched its satellite phone service, T-Satellite, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink constellation, making it available to all US-based customers as of July 23, 2025. This marks the end of a nearly six-month beta period. The service aims to eliminate cellular dead zones by providing direct-to-cell satellite connectivity using a constellation of over 650 low Earth orbit (LEO) Starlink satellites. Unlike traditional satellite phones, no special hardware or app is needed—users can send and receive text messages and share locations directly from compatible smartphones. This includes emergency texting to 911 and works even if the phone is in your pocket.

T-Satellite is included free for T-Mobile customers on premium plans such as Experience Beyond and Go5G Next. Customers on other plans, as well as users from other US carriers like AT&T and Verizon, can subscribe for $10 per month during the current promotional period, which is expected to increase to $15 later. The system works seamlessly with over 60 phone models from major brands including Samsung, Google, Motorola, and Apple, supporting both Android and iOS devices.

At launch, T-Satellite supports SMS messaging and location sharing through native messaging apps (Google Messages or Apple’s Messages). MMS image messaging is rolling out gradually, and voice and data services are planned for future updates expected later in 2025. The service automatically activates when a compatible unlocked phone enters a dead zone, and no user intervention is required.

Supported devices are extensive, including recent flagship and mid-range models such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 to S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series up to the Fold7 and Flip7, Google Pixel 9 series, Motorola’s new Razr models, and Apple iPhone 13 through iPhone 16 series, among others. Some upcoming devices like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE and Motorola Edge 2024 are also listed for future compatibility.

T-Mobile’s T-Satellite service is a significant development in ending mobile dead zones across the US, offering reliable satellite messaging accessible on many existing smartphones without extra hardware, with plans to expand into voice and data services in the near future.
