Twitch has introduced a new Rewind feature for livestreams this week. Now, viewers can rewind the live stream directly from the stream page to watch anything they missed. This makes it easier to catch up without having to leave the live stream or wait for the video to end.
At first, Rewind will be available only on desktop and will be exclusive to Twitch Turbo subscribers and people who subscribe to specific channels. This restriction is to prevent people from skipping ads by rewinding. Streamers also need to turn on the feature and have video-on-demand (VOD) enabled to allow Rewind.
Twitch plans to bring the feature to all users eventually and make it available on mobile apps too. However, some types of channels like DJ channels won’t have Rewind because of rights issues.
Overall, Rewind lets Twitch users enjoy streams more flexibly by going back to replay cool or missed moments during a live broadcast.
